a spring night’s dream

On Friday I’ve been to my old school. There is a theatre group which plays - mostly musicals - once a year. Longer time ago I took part in their group, too. Though I’m not a big fan of musicals in general, it was always fun to be with them, having rehearsals, making trips to a youth hostel in Serrig to have a whole rehearsal-week and of course the time in which we played in front of the audience.
The first time was three years ago. They played “Hair”, …, and they just needed someone, who made the lights and the audio settings. One year later it was “Man Of La Mancha”, …, and I had to act as a gay barber, which was really fun. They seemed to like me as a homosexual character on the stage, because one year ago, I had to play the gay son of a vampire… something like a dracula, in “Dance Of The Vampires”. I really have no idea, why I always had to play such characters :-) .

So, this year, I took only part as a groupie and visitor in the audience. It was great to watch everything from the outside, not as one of the actors, who became already tired of the play, because of having acted it in uncountable rehearsals during weeks and months. They played Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and it was fascinating. The manning of characters had completely changed and I only knew some of them - the biggest part seemed to have left school with me last year. But after the debut performance I had the chance to become acquainted to some of them and I was even allowed to be on the first-name terms with my ancient music teacher and the stage director of the play. ;-)
